Newton Girls' Lacrosse

Season opens March 29

Newton Girls' Lacrosse season officially opens March 29, 2016 with practices on turf at Dexter/Southfield School and the West Suburban YMCA.  The first week in April we will move from the turf to our new home at Weeks Field in Newton.  Weekly practices for all age groups will be Monday and Wednesday from 6-7 pm at Weeks.

Our girls will play games on Sundays.  The home field for teams at the 1/2 and 3/4 grades age groups will be Cold Spring Park.  The home field for teams at the 5/6 and 7/8 age groups will be the turf either at Newton North or Newton South High School.

We're looking forward to a great spring!

We get a lot of inquiries about off-season lacrosse clinics/camps for Newton girls in grades 1 through 8.
Some are through Newton Parks and Rec (eg winter clinics at Newton North HS in Jan/Feb), some through local schools/colleges (eg Fessenden, BC, Harvard, Babson), and some through local sports facilities (eg Forekicks, the Fieldhouse in Sudbury, and Teamworks).
The lacrosse club teams (Mass Elite/Achieve, Revolution Lacrosse, Mavericks, 128, Storm...) sometimes offer off-season clinics to the general public, too.
All are searchable on the internet.  Below is the information for the Newton Parks and Recreation camp.

Newton Girls Lacrosse is an instructional program with the goals of teaching the kids sportsmanship, lacrosse skills, and to be a good team player. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S., mainly because it is so much fun to play!

A current US Lacrosse membership (must be renewed each year) is required to register with NGL and is available on the US Lacrosse website.
Registration for the spring season of NGL opens near the end of November and closes mid January each year.

Practices begin the week of March 28 through June 10.

Games against other towns are on Sunday afternoons and start April 3 and run through June 5 for all but the Grade 1/2s - these youngest players have games in the second half of the season.

The Jamboree will be on Sunday June 12 at the Lincoln-Sudbury high school - a great end-of-season event for players in all of the towns in the league!

Equipment required for all players: a girls' lacrosse stick, girls' lacrosse goggles, and a colored mouth guard (clear and white mouth guards are illegal in girls' lacrosse).
