Newton Girls' Lacrosse

Season opens March 27, 2017

Newton Girls' Lacrosse season officially opens March 27, 2017.

Our girls play games on Sundays.  The 8 games for 7th/8th grade teams and 5th/6th grade teams begin on April 2 and run through June 4, with no games on Easter Sunday (April 16) and Memorial Day weekend (May 28).   3rd/4th grade teams play 7 games beginning April 9; 1st/2nd grade teams play 4 games starting on May 7.  The home field for teams at the 1/2 and 3/4 grades age groups will be Cold Spring Park.  The home field for teams at the 5/6 and 7/8 age groups will be the turf either at Newton North High School or Newton South High School.

We're looking forward to a great spring!

We get a lot of inquiries about off-season lacrosse clinics/camps for Newton girls in grades 1 through 8.
Some are through Newton Parks and Rec (eg winter clinics at Newton North HS in Jan/Feb), some through local schools/colleges (eg Fessenden, BC, Harvard, Babson), and some through local sports facilities (eg Forekicks, the Fieldhouse in Sudbury, and Teamworks).
The lacrosse club teams (Mass Elite/Achieve, Revolution Lacrosse, Mavericks, 128, Storm...) sometimes offer off-season clinics to the general public, too.
All are searchable on the internet.  Below is the information for the Newton summer camp.

Newton Girls Lacrosse is an instructional program with the goals of teaching the kids sportsmanship, lacrosse skills, and to be a good team player. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S., mainly because it is so much fun to play!

A current US Lacrosse membership (must be renewed each year) is required to register with NGL and is available on the US Lacrosse website.
Registration for the spring season of NGL opens near the end of November and closes mid January each year.

Practices begin the week of March 27 through June 4.

Games against other towns are on Sunday afternoons and start on April 2 (for 5/6 and 7/8 grade teams) or April 9 (for 3/4 grade teams) and run through June 4.  Our youngest players, the 1st/2nd graders have games in the second half of the season, May 7, 14, 21, and June 4.

The Jamboree will be on Sunday, June 11 at the Lincoln-Sudbury High School - a great end-of-season event for players in all of the towns in the league!

Equipment required for all players: a girls' lacrosse stick, girls' lacrosse goggles, and a colored mouth guard (clear and white mouth guards are illegal in girls' lacrosse).
