Our league, the FGLL, holds an end of the year jamboree at the conclusion of the season. This year the jamboree will be held on June 17th at Lincoln-Sudbury High School. It is a fun end-of-season event for players in all of the towns in the league! You can choose if you want your daughter to participate in this event or not. We will have practices for these players on 6/11 and 6/13.
If you have been to a jamboree in the past there are some significant changes this year.
Grades participating: As of right now the jamboree will only be for grades 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6. Depending on how many of these teams sign up there may then be room for 7/8 as well. In the past not many 7/8 teams have signed up as a number of these girls are playing club tournaments by this time of the year.
Sessions: There will only be morning and afternoon sessions. All of our teams will participate in the morning session. Morning games are at
8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 (each team plays 3 games, typically every other time slot and we will not know which slots we have until closer to the event).
Format: The format is also different this year. All teams will play 8v8 (7 plus goalie) except 1/2 will not play with a goalie.
Cost: There is no cost to you for the jamboree.NGL has paid for each team.
Registration: If your daughter is going to play we need you to register her so we can make sure we have enough girls to fill our teams. You can find the registration link on the top right of our home page. Registration closes on 6/8.
Team limit: The league has asked up to cap teams at 14 players. We will send out the sign-ups in the next week and it will be first come first serve. We will start a wait list if the teams fill up.Grades 1/2 and 5/6 will each have 3 teams and grades 3/4 will have 4 teams. For 3/4, teams will not be the same as they were during the season so girls can get a chance to play with different people.Grades 1/2 and 5/6 will determine this as the date approaches.
If you have not participated in the jamboree before it is a lot of fun. Many games are played at one time on fields next to each other. Each town has a tent or two set up as a meeting place for its players. We will eventually send out an ask for food and drink donations that we have available for players in our tent. There is also typically some food and entertainment vendors on site which the girls also enjoy.
